Should I wash my Gustine before a first use?

You have just received your fluffy mail and are struggling to contain your excitement to embark baby in your Gustine for a ride?
We understand you PER-FAI-TE-MENT!

Nevertheless, you will need an initial wash and a few hours of drying before you can “break in” your wonderful. It is VERY important to WASH your Gustine BEFORE its first use.

Of course you do! Our weaver also does a prewash, but the manufacturing process of the Gustine after cutting, assembly and sewing is not completed until the fiber has swollen to occupy the space provided.

Clearly, not washing a Gustine before its first use leaves empty spaces between the stitches, which weakens the weaving and also increases the risk of “thread shifting”.

What’s more, neglecting the first wash of your Gustine can have an impact on product safety and integrity. We also offer no guarantee of quality following a thread shifting or any other problem that occurs on a baby carrier that has not received a first wash.

Moreover, as our products are handmade, your beautiful Gustine has been handled by more than one person: weaver, packer, fabric tailor, seamstresses, me, as well as sales consultants…
