Faut-il laver son Gustine avant une première utilisation?

Should you wash your Gustine before first use?

Have you just received your fluffy mail and are having trouble containing your excitement to take baby into your Gustine for a ride?
We understand you PERFECTLY!

However, you will need an initial wash and a few hours of drying before you can “break in” your marvelous one. It is VERY important to WASH your Gustine BEFORE its first use.

IS THE PRODUCT PRE-WASHED?

Obviously! Our weaver also does a pre-wash, but the Gustine manufacturing process following cutting, assembly and sewing is not completed until the fiber has swollen, to occupy the space provided.

Simply put, not washing a Gustine before its first use leaves empty spaces between the stitches, which weakens the weave and also increases the risk of the fibers moving (“thread shifting”).

SAFETY, QUALITY AND HYGIENE

What’s more, neglecting the first wash of your Gustine can have an impact on the safety and integrity of the product. We also offer no guarantee of quality following “thread shifting” or any other problem that occurs on a baby carrier that has not received a first wash.

In addition, as our products are made by hand, your beautiful Gustine has been handled by more than one person: weaver, packer, fabric tailor, seamstresses, me, as well as the sales consultants...

SIMPLE EASY WASHING

  • Hand wash in cold water with mild soap.
  • Do NOT tumble dry.
  • Apply pressure to remove as much water as possible
  • Apply towels as needed to further blot the straps
  • Spread and dry completely
  • Avoid the sun and direct heat sources
  • Choose a well-ventilated area to speed up drying.
  • Prevent the straps from remaining wet for too long
  • Wear with love!

Also remember that a Gustine does NOT need to be washed frequently. After the first wash, you should only wash it if it is stained or really dirty, or when you want to resell it. The soap chosen will therefore probably not have to be repurchased on a regular basis.
